Steering wheel spacing too close to dash

What has everyone done to move the steering wheel closer to you. Or just away from being so close to the dash I have a classic momo it’s at least 25 years old

I am using a dished Momo wheel instead of the Prototipo, so I don't hit the top of the dash - it is an improvement. But I lived many years with the Prototipo in various 911's and it's not that bad, at least for me, otherwise I would have complained more.
Just remembered on the race cars a steering wheel quick disconnect acted as a spacer

JWest engineering sells a spacer that will move your wheel out about an inch and offset it upward a bit so you get a better view of your gauges too. Nice quality alloy unit. Should be just what you are looking for.

I'm using an excenter ring from Momo for my 79 Prototpo S

it moves the steering wheel away from the dash about 20mm and up my 15mm

Factory extended hub option. Easy to turn an additional spacer and add to it as well.

The easiest way if you want to keep your current setup is by adding a spacer. Either a standard one or an eccentric as Flo has shown.

One other option could be, if your car is a G-type 911, to get the longer hub, L231, that momo sells if you don't have one of those already.

Carbone will make a spacer to any thickness you desire. I have a 1" spacer and also the dished Momo. Mine sits quite a bit out from the dash. Love it.

I'm not sure if they do. I suggest you try and have a look and I case you get stuck, feel free to send me a DM. I've got all parts: short and long hub, original momo standard spacer as well as eccentric ones. I can offer strong prices but the problem might be the additional shipping cost since I'm not located in the US, but in Europe.

Generic Momo spacers are on Amazon for like 12 bucks. I personally like a 50 mm spacer if I'm running a low offset wheel like a Prototipo.

The J-West eccentric is great if you need a little more leg room or better gauge visibility.

If you buy any quick disconnect, it will space the steering wheel closer to you.
Mission accomplished plus scene points.

The JWEST Engineering Adapter is made specifically for this, but also as others have stated Rennline Quick Dissconect Hub will give you the same result moving the wheel a good amount closer to the driver.

The long Momo hub with the Momo offset adapter in Flojo's post above will put a Prototipo in roughly the same position as the factory extended hub Carrera steering wheel. Another option is a deep dish wheel like the Momo Mod 7 or 8. Measure the dish of your wheel and length of your hub and go from there to figure out where you want the wheel to be.

Responded to your PM on eccentric spacer but your inbox is full. Thanks

Vintage RUF Yellowbird steering wheel
has a nice Fatty grip and no 'nubs' on the backside.
Very difficult to find, they rarely come up for sale.

Porsche extended hub wheel also does the trick.
I'm not a fan of the eccentric hubs,
the up and down movement while turning is wonky.

ok,
I am 6'2" and I have long legs.
I moved the seat back about an inch or so by rebolting at the next hole back.

Now, on long drives, its just not comfortable.

I went and bought the new Momo 370mm flat wheel.
I bought the offset jwest spacer.
While its back a bit more than stock now...its still not quite right.

Is there just a standard, simple black Momo spacer on the market?
I see a 1/2 inch spacer on Pelican....but I am looking for suggestions on the next spacer to buy.

Check which hub you have. Momo makes the standard C231 and a longer L231 which I believe is 15mm longer.

I looked at various options and decided to get the factory extended hub steering wheel. They seem to be readily available, or at least they were when I got mine.

This steering wheel makes a surprising difference. It makes the car much more comfortable for me to drive and I'm 6' 1".
