Lights SC

Hey all, driving home tonight after PCA dinner, flipped on brights on headlights all dark out there. 1982 SC Thank goodness low beams working. I do have H4s and proper light relay for H4s Will dig into it this week any thoughts on where to start I have meters and all I need to troubleshoot. Thought maybe someone could take me right to the issue
Thanks in advance

If removable type, swap the relays from high to low to see if it moves with the relay first.
Then look for the turn signal quick fix thread if it doesn’t.

Relay swap is the quickest way to start trouble shooting. Then check voltage coming out of the switch that feeds them, followed a painful and slow check of the grounds.
I made the leap to LEDs and can't be happier. No relays to worry about, plug/play and did I say bright? Didn't think it was possible to have functioning lights on our old SCs. Looking at getting another pair for my '64 TR4.

This is a modification, but not an upgrade.

Properly aiming your H4s is step one, and the most important step.

If you're trying to get the most out of your H4 setup, get a pair of these 60/55W Tungsram +120 bulbs from Daniel Stern Lighting.

If you're using sugar scoops and want to maintain a period-correct look, Stern can also get you Koito euro H4 7" lamps which are the best halogen lamp money can buy.

If you care more about night-time vision, the JW Speaker 7" LED lamp is the best on the market, but it just plain looks wrong on a 911 (and has to be used with Sugar Scoops or Audette style.

Two thoughts

1) start by checking the fuses - as high beams are controlled/fused by a different circuit than low beams. If fuses all check out, then look at relays

2) to add to Mr. Merk's post -- another issue/concern with putting LED bulbs into H4 headlight assemblies (that were designed to use halogen bulbs) is that the incandescent (Halogen) bulb produces all of its light from a single point, while the LED substitute produces light from several modules spaced along its shaft (see the picture in the link F1LOCO posted). Since the H4 reflector/assembly was designed to focus light from the single point source halogen bulb, using a LED substitute will invariably compromise the accuracy of the H4 reflector/assembly, resulting in what may appear to be "brighter" light that's not contained/controlled by the h4 assembly in the same manner as a "real" H4 halogen bulb (and that can therefore distract oncoming cars, etc.)
