I’ve not begun the install. Reading the threads here I am of the impression that two condensers will not be enough—-marginal perhaps a better term. I believe I can get two in the rear wheel well. The only other place I see promise is one under the engine lid.

I am not planning on driving the car much in the heat of the summer. (This past summer was a real scorcher north of Boston.). If 2 can get me relief in the eighties, then I am greatly encouraged. Observations are welcome. Thanks. Bill

Has the air speed verses the evaporator efficiency been tested?
I only bring it up because I was a service writer at Ford in the early 90's and the Escort had an issue with this.
If you put the fan on MAX the air temp would go up about 5*. The air moved across the fins too fast to cool down. We had to coach people on really hot days to lower the fan speed for better AC cooling.

This is true of any heat exchanger. It's a balancing act of air flow versus heat transfer.

Tested in 40C / 104F this summer. Car is cool which is all that matters.

@ Bill - 2 condensers will suffice. I've never had an issue with temps out of the vents. Air flow was the lacking factor.

Check out my in depth comparison

Gen1 setting 3 is gen2 setting 2.

Thanks for the clarification. You are absolutely the most determined and thorough person in evaluating this product! The only thing I won’t do is give up my clock. I consider a working clock to be the good luck sign of an early 911/912. However I think I can get air flow if I can find a good metal bender. Bill

How is this new blower setup working now that the temps are starting to climb?

Still waiting for a good hot day here in MD. Hottest we had was 85 which is still fine for windows down. 72 today. As soon as it's 90+ I will be doing some heat soak tests.

Awesome and looking forward to it.

There was mention of swapping out the 005-046-02 fan assembly for a higher flow fan assembly earlier in the thread (page 33, I believe). Has anyone done this?

For my system, the only apparent bottleneck is the overall volume of air - both for a/c and also pushing air to the defrost ports under the window. I have some PTC heaters tucked into the directional valves and just can't get enough air through them from the existing early Gen 1 unit.
