Camshaft recommendations - stock 3.2
I have my 3.2 completely apart for a rebuild. #5 exhaust cam lobe is in the photo below. I can feel it with my finger nail. Some of the other lobes look discolored and I imagine they aren't far behind. All the rocker pads look perfect. I've been researching cams for a stock rebuild (stock P/Cs, heads, intake) and besides the stock grind, two popular options seem to be a 964 grind and the Webcam 20/21.
Given I need to have my cams reworked, I'm wondering if doing something other than stock makes sense. Using the car for fun only, no track, autocross or DE's. If I can pick up a little power for what would be no additional cost, seems like a no brainer.

I am strapping in for this one as you are going through what I expect to do in the next couple of years. My understanding is the same as yours, 964 or 20/21 are the most often mentioned, so with stock P/Cs, what else makes sense to maximize the rebuild without the displacement bump, right?
Seems like if you do not have to smog a premuffler and exhaust might help, along with a SW chip. Frank will likely weigh in, he has some variations on these themes. Have my notepad at the ready.

I have a SW chip, run 93 octane and have an M&K cat-delete and muffler.

Loved the Web 20/21s in my '88.
Open airbox cover, pre-muffler, sport muffler and a Steve Wong custom tune. The package worked exceedingly well together. Sounded GREAT, especially when going WOT under load. You can hear it at the end of this dyno pull... https://amoroso.smugmug.com/1988-Porsche-911-M491-M470-Poi/1988-911-Dyno-tune-at-Game/i-C26F3Jq
