Who knows this RSR?
I’ve never seen this RSR before. Note the interesting fender treatment.
It was in display at Luft both days. Anyone know it’s race history or specs? ![]()

Don't know that particular car.. but its hot!
Fender treatment not that unusual, from back in the day. Number of 934/935 cars ran these early on in IMSA GTO class I believe it was.

I don’t know this particular car, but the bodywork is from AIR, was common on IMSA 911s in the 1980s.

Did it have a 4 speed inverted gearbox? 2.5?

Not sure. The engine was in the back (not mid engined).

While this car started out as a ‘ 69 912 that was raced in SCCA from the late sixties till it was built into an RSR to race IMSA in the mid seventies by Bob Gregg. Ron Coupland was a subsequent owner and driver in IMSA GTO at many venues as Sebring, Laguna Seca and many more. It had and still has AP brakes, an upside down 915 gearbox, as well as 935 ft control arms and the raised steering rack amongst its tricks. Martin Lauber and Alan Terpins are the current owners. RetroSport is the current shop who takes care of it, and I’m a mechanic there, working for Ben Kirchner. We’re still working on finding the car’s early history, but much of its eighties history is in the storyboard photos.

Appreciate the link to this particular car’s history. Attended that 1983 24hr Daytona race as a NC high school kid cutting 2 days of class with my buddy to see what endurance racing was all about! Glad this racing 911 has been preserved as well as it has been recently!!
