I would not hesitate to send him a gearbox, or just call him up to ask questions. He's helped me out every single time I've asked!

He prefers the 996 boxes, as they are easier to service and get parts for. As far as I know, he only really recommends a single upgrade on the units (a reinforcement on the diff cover) and running an oil cooler for heavy track use.

What G96 version did you use? 5 speed or 6 I would like to use a 6 speed if possible.

Hi, regarding this swap into 964/993 - do you think it would be possible to hide the shift cables and house the gear stick inside the factory centre console?

p.s. I think we might have met briefly years ago at Canepa.

I have only used this kit with the 6 speed. The 5 speeds are completely different - basically audi boxes as far as I know.

Hi Jonny,

I'm actually using a 997 center console, including the complete (auto adjusting!) e-brake mechanism on my '75 911. It fits surprisingly well!

I would say it's very likely you could fit all the shift mechanisms and cables under a 964 or 993 tunnel cover / center console.

I have a couple customers doing this right now. I should have some updates on that process, pictures, and maybe some additional kit parts in the next few months.

I haven't worked with Joe directly before. I was just recommending an amazing guy for any gearbox or differential needs

I'll add some more information and pictures soon.

I do have some customers working on fitting this kit to 964 and 993 chassis. I'll have more info soon on what's required for those cars specifically. I'll probably also have some associated parts, such as a transmission mount or shift linkages available.
That ebay link is no worky!

Being able to have the interior remain stock looking would be a massive tick in the box for me. If the console had to be modified then I'm sure 3d print may come to the rescue to make something that looks stock at a glance.

Car culture in the UK is very much focussed on manual transmission to the point that a Tip 964/993 is £20k less than the equivalent manual car. Also, finding a manual 964/993 gearbox is almost impossible and the prices are ridiculous - saw one for £25k the other day! I'm not sure what the labour charge would be but I would say not less than £5K.

If your kit + gearbox + labour can get close to the £10k mark, you will have a transatlantic line to your front door!

A few more guys have jumped into round 2. A second production run is starting, with some small changes etc.

We know have 10+ guys in the build stage using this kit. A lot more documentation, supporting parts, pictures, and reviews will be coming soon.

Hopefully the price and availability of these gearboxes will stay as is for a while.

I'm shopping for a 996 transmission. It's clear that shipping is a hurdle. How did you do it? No recent threads on how to do it with a transmission. Do you have suggestions? Fedex has no customer support. The terminal was basically useless and comes up with $1,300 and that's on a pallet, terminal to terminal. What's the secret handshake?

Freightquote.com
I use them all the time to ship engines and transmissions. A trans is usually $250-300 coast to coast.
