Hi
|
Front Windshield
Hello Everyone,
My '84 is in for paint. Do any of you have a lead for a front windshield? My local dismantler doesn't have one and Porsche wants $1300 for a new one. Thanks. Larry

$300 for a 911?? Safelite did mine for $600 3 years ago, and I thought that was pretty good.

I don't think I've ever paid more than $150. It's a wear item.

Call a company called Diamond Triumph.
Back in 2007 I was in California hit a deer, and needed a new windshield. I called several Porsche dealerships, and most just said we don't work on cars that old, and they hung up. Only Beverly Hills Porsche said they would do it, and it was like 3 grand to do it. I drove through LA traffic, at rush hour looking through a very broken windshield. I got the San Diego, and Diamond Triumph came to my hotel, and installed it. I droove home and got my car fixed and it looks perfect. It is a Sigla windshield, still in place, and I don't remember the exact cost. They put it in and I drove home, then to the Porsche specialist body shop and told him, make it look like it never happened, and they did just that.

Not sure your intent with originality, but when I hade to replace my windshield and have paint, I went with an 85+ windshield with in glass antenna. and eliminated the fender antenna. New fender without the hole for my, but you could just have you hole filled by the body shop. you would also need the antenna booster, but I have a spare if you don't have another source.
