Fuel Pump install - acceptable way to slice a pie

Problem: 76 was converted to carbs. OG FP was removed and a inline filter was put in. Banjo compression fitting gone. I want to convert back to FI. Now, I guess the correct way to fix this is get a new fuel line to go from the front to the back with the new banjo on it, BUT I am wondering if I can resolve this another way.

Solution: Some time ago I acquired a SC/later fuel pump and use it on my bench to test run engines. This FP has a banjo fitting that has a port to allow me to hook regular fuel line to it and clamp it down. It has not leaked while having it years on the bench so....can I just run this as is? I feel like this is an acceptable way to fix a factory compression banjo failing.

Sorry if this has already been answered 10 million times, search did not uncover anything in the first two pages accept for someone having to dremmel cut a banjo bolt.

Yep, no big deal. Good hose and a good clamp.
You might get in trouble with the special police though .

Model Year 76 is the first year of 911 production with a Front Mounted Fuel Pump for the CIS, and it has a 10mm Banjo. Depending on the condition of the rest of your fuel system, if all OK, I offer this Front "Repair" Hose. You can cut the old feed hose off at the crimp.....

and fit this temporary "Repair" hose....

It is considered a "Repair" hose only because the CIS Feed is high pressure and the factory had just moved to crimp fittings to ensure a long life connection.

The correct and permanent repair is to fit a new Tunnel line and front hose with crimped fittings, as used with all later model 911's.

However, just a couple years later Porsche went to improved Fuel Pumps with a larger 12mm Banjo, and new replacement Tunnel lines from Porsche seem only to have this 12mm size.

If you cannot find the size needed, I can help. I have a pretty good selection of Metric Fuel Fittings and Hose, and all Fuel Hose is E85 Rated.

The easiest way to determine what you have is with a 17mm or 19mm open end wrench. If it slips over the Banjo you have a 10, if not you have a 12......

The best way to reach me is by email, len.cummings @ verizon.net but without the spaces.

I hope this helps.

Len

Nditiz1-

I assume you have this issue corrected.

Please tell us how you resolved this and installed your Fuel Injection system.
