I have been watching 81-83 euro prices for some time. I have not seen lower prices and also agree the higher hp should be desirable. However, it’s also a problem meeting emission in some state, CA in particularly. So smaller buyer pool but still plenty of sales at “same as US” prices. I would agree with those saying fix the clutch so it’s a drivable sale. Good luck, and post a picture!!!!!

My mantra for high dollar Porsches has always been Barn Finds and Trailer Queens but nothing in between. YMMV.

Showdown, you make a good case for leaving the clutch alone and selling it as-is. For a true enthusiast, that's a great point. I can see both sides, as does this group which slightly leans toward fixing it. As I talk with potential buyers and what the higher bidders want, I'll make my decision on that. I'm not jumping the gun.
SkiVT, thanks for the pricing input. FYI that my car already passed CA smog three weeks ago, so at least it's good for 2 years now. The challenge really was finding a Smog Cert Station that had the equipment to test older cars, they're becoming a rarer thing out here in San Diego. Hi_Fi_Guy, love your mantra. In this case, I do think MMMV. Jjm4life, thanks for relaying your experience. I think it's going to play out that way as well. NOTE -- I'm trying to get a some photos done before I head out on vacation for 2 weeks, but my list of travel To-Do's is long and time is getting tight. The car is in my packed garage with really bad lighting, and with no clutch it's an iffy thing to roll it outside onto my sloped driveway so I can get proper pics. We'll see... fingers crossed! |

For someone looking for a "project car," this sounds like a good opportunity providing you price it right. New owner would get into it and sort the car out to whatever level they want. .

Sorry for the delay — I’m finally done with the pre-vacation hustle and at my destination, so I have time to post.
Several of you requested some photos. Just before I left on vacation, I was able to roll the car out onto the driveway and take a handful of pics. (It took me and two neighbors to get it back up the driveway… didn’t want to leave it outside while I was gone!). I would’ve preferred to fully wash, clean and vacuum the car first, but didn’t have time — so here it is in the raw. A few pics of the exterior, interior, trunk, and finally the undercarriage and engine. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks again for all your great advice and input. I’ll make some decisions during my vacation and will be moving forward when I return. No decisions yet. Last edited by Dave B; 10-04-2023 at 09:13 PM.. |

Doesn't look too bad at all, with real potential to be a good car for someone who is willing to put the time and money into it.

That really isn’t bad. It’s like my 77 with 205k miles on it. Your interior looks just like mine with the pinstripe. I paid $30k for mine in 2022. Yours is an SC with the 3.0 liter and has that iconic tail. In driving condition I would say yours is $40k-ish. As is the value is going to be in the low $30’s.

Thanks for the input, gents.
When I return from vacation, I will do a little more clean up. Hadn't considered BAT until a kind poster shared an 83SC (US) w/ 254k mi and no rebuild that went for $40k. Yikes. |

Hi Dave-
I'm interested in your 911 SC. Actually, I love the idea that it needs some work. My 13 yr old son is excited to do a minor car restoration with me, and I couldn't think of a better way to spend time together. Your 911 looks perfect for what we are ready to take on right now. I'm new to Pelican, so I can't PM you yet. Is there any way you can PM me so we can connect? Thanks! Greg |
