Jeff Zwart said to me, That is one of the coolest Porsches I have seen in a while, very well done.
Look at that smile, he absolutely loved the Turbo Tractor ! He was also racing a tractor the orange coffee grinder. Richard

I resurrected cooking on Petra's catalytic converter for the Day 1 Live Stream with Kristen Lee from MotorTrend. I went with Shrimp and summer squash this time, as I could present multiple small plates.

As anyone who went there can tell you, it's an absolutely overwhelming event. It's pretty much every single Porsche you can imagine, ever, all in one place -- and most of them racing on the track.
But my favorite picture is from the time I got to spend with Andreas Preuninger, the head of Porsche's GT Department and the guy responsible for just about all of the modern 'bucket list' Porsches I can think of.

I have to agree, it was an amazing event. Not sure but I think the tractor race was the highlight. Although The R rennsport and seeing all the vintage cars race again was also a sight to behold. I watched many of these race back in the day and seeing and hearing them again was just outstanding.
Watching Canepa and Long go at it in the 917's was worth the fee alone. 4 days wasn't enough and the rain on Saturday was a shame. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

The tractor race was fun but it was the Lemans style start that was crazy exciting. I was amazed at how many spectators came up to me in the tractor paddock and said the exact same thing that there favorite part of the racing was the tractor race. And I agree that Canepa and Long racing the 917’s was a sight to behold but I just did not get the reaction to the weather on Saturday, I am from Florida where it RAINS, I would call what came down on Saturday a drizzle and it was not a big deal to me but I later found out that that is the first time it has “rained” at a Weathertech event in 20+ years. The rain was an inconvenience, and I didn't like the muddy car park - that's why you bring a second pair of shoes - but the photography had more pop, and the crowds were much smaller than I expected for the Saturday. The public parade lap did suffer having to go much slower than the Friday tour. So I guess it just depends on your point of view.

So for anyone that thinks that Porsche Tractor racing is just an exhibition these pictures should dispel that notion.
Porsche people are a competitive bunch and we always want to win regardless if it is a 200 mph GT2RS or a 15 mph Porsche Tractor. This is the Sunday race and I am threading the needle on Justin Bell with my Turbocharged 329, racing does not get any closer than this and if the tractor tire lugs had touched you would have seen the world’s first flying Porsche Tractor. I am still scouring the internet for pictures of the Saturday race because that start was even wilder than this one on Sunday. The Lemans start was one of the craziest things I have ever done even if it was only 15 mph. Now you know why so many people are saying that some of the best racing of the weekend was the Tractors. Richard I have some video of it if you would like. I was across the way at the start finish line club and the vantage point was great. It was real racing no doubt and fun to watch. The first day you guys nearly plowed down the photographers on the right side of the track.
My one concern was wheel to wheel mishap. ![]() ![]()

My one concern was wheel to wheel mishap. ![]() Thank you Anthony I would love to see those videos and you are 100% right about both the photographers almost getting mowed down and the danger of tire to tire contact of the tractor lugs. Like I said if that had happened a rear to a rear contact somebody would have went flying. There was a drone hovering above the start and I would assume that there is video from a Birds Eye view of all the chaos but I have not seen it yet and have posted on the Weathertech site about it but no reply. But what really catches my eye in your post is the crowds in this picture, I am just outside the field of view to the left in this picture but WOW look at the people they are loving it. Richard |

Richard,
I tried to send yo a message but your mailbox is full. Send me your email address if you want I will send you what I have from the event. I bumped into Bobby Akin the Sunday night before. He was very nice and we chatted for nearly 2 hours at dinner. He was in charge of the Video for the event. Although he is hyper critical of his work I though they did a great job all in all. I am not sure if he can do anything I don't think he has the right to release the drone video but I have his contact info maybe he will do something but lets see if weather tech will release it. Undeniably the tractor race was the one event that caught everyone's attention. Some people were there for the cars others the drivers but everyone including the staff at the Start Finish line club dropped everything to watch the tractor race. I think this should be a new race series. Tractor sprint race with LeMans start LOL. Saturday was the busiest but Sundays weather the best, no lines and a lot of the action. It was sad to see the 2 cars get destroyed Sunday. Bad crash but that is racing. It was my wife's Bday Saturday and was lucky she was willing to come out to the event. She was meeting so many people and had a great time which was nice. My friend Mike with my wife and Jim Busby and his wife. He looks great for 82 years. Everyone was so nice like usual. It is great when everyone has a common interest. Now if Mike can just finish the Dauer homologation 962 to reunite it with the other 2 for the 30th anniversary next year. ![]() ![]() IMO for a spectator the start finish line club was worth every penny. Great vantage point & parking within 500 feet of the facility. The food and staff were wonderful and the best vantage point at the track IMO. Kept us dry Saturday. I just can't believe we have gone from this ![]() To possibly this?

I think this should be a new race series. Tractor sprint race with LeMans start LOL. It is surprising how popular the tractor races are but with the craziness of the wheel to wheel Lemans start I should not be surprised. Saturday was the busiest but Sundays weather the best, no lines and a lot of the action. It was sad to see the 2 cars get destroyed Sunday. Bad crash but that is racing. Yeah damn shame that that happened, I feel worse for all the people that traveled all the way to RRVII and did not get to make one race lap because of that crash. It was my wife's Bday Saturday and was lucky she was willing to come out to the event. You are very lucky, my wife was supposed to go and bailed at the last minute ☹️ IMO for a spectator the start finish line club was worth every penny. Great vantage point & parking within 500 feet of the facility. The food and staff were wonderful and the best vantage point at the track IMO. Kept us dry Saturday. I would have loved to been up there in the club house but I spunt all my money to make the show with my tractor all the way from central Fla. and besides I REALLY enjoy hanging with the ALEGRA crew they are a blast.
