What will my '87 bring on eBay?
Give me some ballpark numbers on what I would get for it on eBay. Here is a brief description:
248,000 miles Top end rebuild 20K miles ago Guards Red/Black New Yoko ES 100s Great paint Turbo valve covers Exterior has maybe 5 little door dings Interior is great except a little wear on on driver's seat left hand side Want to upgrade to a newer 911 and want to figure out how much to budget.

My guess is between 12 and 14K, maybe I'm low balling, but that's pretty high mileage. Lots of things to go soon. Car looks great!! Don't sell.
regards,

I agree with Jon and would guess somewhere between 10-13k. However, the question was "what will it bring on eBay?" not "what is it worth?". In other words, eBay is probably not the best way to get top-dollar (or even a fair price) for your particular car, due to the sight-unseen nature of the venue. That said, you can't beat the exposure-to-cost ratio, and might generate a few leads. Anyhow, nice car, and good luck!
Oh, and just a side note: Turbo valve covers were standard on all Carreras.

Post some engine pics. Is that really all the upgrades on the car? No suspension work? If well maintained the mileage is somewhat irrelevant. It would scare off a lot of people though. I want to get mine over a million miles. I think that may be the threshold where the price starts going up again because of the high mileage...lol... I say $15,000

Save your time and money and place an ad in your local autotrader, etc.

Richard,
Nicely worded ad -- very honest (for a change). Mine's online at Autotrader, I'll let you know how I fare. I'm guessing it's going to take awhile in this market. Eager to see your results. Chris. |

It should be interesting, as both car nice cars but each has what the market likely considers a major drawback (high miles in one case, rust in the second case).
I think the SoCal prices would be around $11K +/- for GSpreemans and $14K +/- for Richards. In particular I remember a triple black '87 coupe that had a rebuilt engine, 110K miles, and no rust (but some bondo on the left rear fender) that sat on the market for quite some time at $16K. This was about 1.5 years ago though. A few months ago there was also a dead clean '88 coupe with 120K miles that sat at $19K. It was a no issues car. |
