Original IROC 911 Driver Bobby Allison has died
Bobby is best known for his NASCAR days. However, Bobby was part of the first IROC series that ran back in 1973-'74 with the 911's. Bobby finished in 9th place. I had the pleasure of meeting Bobby about 2 years ago. He told me how he went to the local Porsche dealer (Barrier-Beck) in Charlotte and purchased a 911 off the showroom floor. He then drove it around the backroads of North Carolina in order to learn how to drive the rear-engined 911 before the series started. Bobby appropriately drove a "Carolina Blue" (which was probably Gulf Blue) 911 at the Riverside race. He was a gentleman and a warrior from a bygone era. You will be missed Bobby.

Thanks for the story about him and the 911. I never met him but thought of him like your description.
