Muffler swap w/SSI’s
I currently have a 79 911SC with SSI’s and this Dansk muffler. I would like swap the muffler for something a little more sporty sounding. Wondering what some of you all have on your cars equipped with SSI’s. Thanks!

Here's mine with a 2-in-2-out Dansk. It sounds absolutely wonderful when you're pushing it, and it's addictive to the point that it's hard to drive without being a hooligan, but drones between 2-3k and is too much for cruising around with the wife. I'm thinking of replacing it with an active exhaust.

Humbled by not taking my and others advice...
Sometimes the exhaust doesn't sound much like the YouTube videos!
To avoid disappointment, you really need to listen/ride/drive in a SIMILAR engined car. During my 12 year restomod of my fathers 74 coupe, i listened to a lot of exhaust videos, (I'm 250 miles from PCA events). Full rebuild, 2.8 with 10.5 c/r, DC 43 cams, PMO, EFI, Twin plugged, ported, new SSIs, and a Scart Riva single out muffler. It is louder than i expected, higher notes and raspy, Don't think my wife is going to want to ride in the car. I'll do a video and post it soon, just real busy now. On a brighter note, someone asked what "DRONE" sounds like??? - some wizard opined, "Well, take a bucket and put it over your head, then, take your girlfriend's vibrator and hold it on the bucket"\ chris |

hahahaha that's a perfect analogy. There's a massive difference between LOUD mufflers and drone. If a muffler drones, you'll know it. Testing mufflers for Achtungkraft, there were a few early prototypes that were unbearable. The harmonics get in your head and drive you insane. Bryan spent a year modifying baffles and chamber design to remove drone from the GTK muffler. Half the reason why hotrod 911 don't get driven is because dudes hang two-in-two-out drone boxes on the back and they're obnoxious in traffic.

Sounds like buckethead has a lot more problems than just drone ...
YouTube videos are notoriously bad at sound reproduction, some of which is because you control the volume. This video was sent to me by a customer who recorded while driving next to a concrete median. It's the most accurate to life audio that I have heard.

Loud but not rowdy. Kris sold that car soon after that video was taken roughly ten years ago (because boring). The 3.2ss in his '72 911T with the RSR muffler is the chef's kiss.

I have an M&K single outlet muffler and it’s as loud as I would want. Howls over 4000rpms but completely manageable at normal cruising speed.
