Gearbox Identification -Office Space car

Hello All, as i embark on the return to the street of the “Office Space” Minerva Blue ‘SC, I’ll probably have lots of questions and want to keep everyone in the loop with pictures. I promised my wife that I would finish our sons VW Thing first and then get her Ghia running which will be the next 6 months or so. Will be parts shopping for the Porsche in the mean time but here is my main question. What is the best way to post on this Forum for updates, just start one thread and as i add to it over the months it pops back up on the first page, or separately, and in which forum would be best ? For context, its an ex track car roller with rear cage, that ill bring back to a 90% street 10% Track , so Engine, Gearbox, Interior, fixing , updating etc…
Todays question is i was offered this Gearbox, i think its a 915, but where’s are the serial number or part numbers written and which box is best for a 3.2 or 3.4 ish engine.

No idea about the transmission, but I’ve seen where a lot of folks have a running thread on their projects. To me, that seems the way to go. YMMV

Looking forward to reading about your new adventure

The gearbox is for a Carrera, probably an 84, based on the drive flanges. Type and serial numbers are stamped on the bottom web near the clutch cable mount.

I would suggest you make your original thread your build thread and as you go along and have very specific issues that aren’t getting answers in your build thread, then make a separate post asking about the problem.
