Can a 15x6 Fuchs be used as donor for 16” 3 piece?
I have a set of 15x6 Fuchs that are pretty nice but no 16x6 and would like to make some 16x10 3 piece wheels with a Fuchs center.
Anyone know if 15x6 has the same center as the commonly sacrificed 16x6?

Anything can be made to fit. It is just what you are willing to pay. You can buy upsized barrels from someplace like SRR and you just have to figure out how many bolts you want. I found out the hard way as I ordered new lips for my 19s, but didn't read carefully. I actually ordered 19" outers that are meant for 18" centers. The barrels are quite reasonbly priced. You can contact them and see if they can make the barrels you need.

Thinking with typical BBS barrels. In other words is the center of 15x6 and 16x6 the same?

The 15x6 and 16x6 share the same look, but the centers aren’t always identical. You’ll want to confirm measurements before cutting, but in theory they can be used.

Ok… flat 6 and normal 16x6… same centers?

Don't think the flat wheels will work, in fact the 16x6 is the only wheel I'm aware of with a profile which provides enough meat, barely enough, to work. I've built a few. I did machine a 16x7 center but never used it, wrong shape.

The OD of the center needs a little meat outside the bolt circle, the BBS parts are a touch over 14.125 and center on the inside of the outer halve.
Do your best to measure the profile of a flat wheel, though I suspect it will be too small dia. with the lips machined off. ![]() |

These wheels have the center mounted inboard, some I mounted outboard like BBS does.

That’s what I was wanting to confirm. Thanks for the measurements and details

Fuch me, the 15x6 looks like it may work. Previously I was under the assumption that the portion needed would be too small diameter since 15" vs 16". Valve stem hole will remain in the perimeter but you can offset the barrel bolts to either side.

Something else to consider, the 16x6s are the least desirable wheel and usually can be obtained easily. The 15x6s are actually worth some money.

I was just thinking about this. Have an 8J x 15" dated '83 with a damaged lip, which would be a great donor for 3 pc /10" barrel or even a collapsable spare....who does this kind of work 'cutting the lip off' ? Guess anyone with competent lathe skills.

Harvey Weidman has done all the ones for us. He did some "RSR" 15x9 & 11s for our 930 and did a set of "ST" 8" & 9.5" wheels for a customer build. He doesn't do the 3 piece bolt together wheels though. They're all welded.
