Some years ago the door lock jammed on my 1978 SC. It turned out that a small circlip (snap ring) had come off that holds the spring circled in post #17. This snap ring can be seen half way along the rod (in the red circle). I fixed the problem by installing another snap ring. Perhaps this is the problem?

I think something must have jammed. It is working OK now. But I would like to find what happened.
I have found in my pile of bits, and old door lock mecahnism - complete with the rod to the square lug. Just trying to figure how that bit works.
Thanks
Alan

Post a pic of the lock assembly that you have. there are a few variants, with subtle differences (primarily to the internal door handle lock), but they generally use the same concepts. If you post a pic it can help with the specific discussion.

76FJ55, you have posted some excellent info on other threads I searched.
Here is a lock which I believe is out of an 82SC. My problem was on the 82 930. So I am figuring it is the same lock.
That rod goes to the interior knob I believe. I have been fiddling with this on the bench and still can't get it to work (unlock) via pulling the rod.
Anyway - if you have any suggestion as to what might have got jammed, feel free.
Thanks
Alan
