What are your "DREAM" 15" Tire Sizes?

Hi all. So many of us compromise on our wheel choices (i.e., going with 17" wheels because of the tire options, despite not looking quite "right" with our stock haunches) because of the extreme lack of 15" tire sizes, especially if you have an ST or RSR type build. We are pretty much stuck with Avon and Michelin TB 15's.

So the question is...if there were ideal sizes for us, what would they be?

Starting here:

295/50/15
245/60/15
215/60/15
185/70/15

I think I'd probably add a 205, 225, and 275 to this. Maybe even a 315 if it were a pure wishlist.

Assuming this would be a good, performance street/light track tire.

What say you?

For me, with just a Carrera flared 73S, I own two sets of 7's and 8's...
One set I have 185 x 70's and 215 x 60's road tires... For the other set I've been running 225 x 50 TOYO RA1's on all 4 corners (square set up) for about 15 years without complaint. The good news is after awhile I can change (unmount and remount) backs to front for longer wear.

However, I would love to run 235 x 50's in the rear. The ONLY performance/track tire made in that size is a TOYO 888, and I don't like them. I don't like their inconsistency or their looks. If wishes were fishes I wish TOYO would make their RA1's in a 235 x 50 x 15 !!!

Oh well...

15s on a widebody?
255/45-15 front
315/40-15 rear
Yokohama used to make a 255/45 that I used 0n the front for a couple decades with 345/35rears. The 345s are about 1/2" or so too wide without a lot of fiddling so they don't rub.

If only we could have a decent set of 205/55 and 225/50 for my 7/8” wheels, I’d be thrilled!

Well, my "dream" is a little off. I have a narrow-body middy running 6" Fuchs on all four corners. I find 185/70's to be a bit narrow. I currently run 195/65's on all wheels, but would like to see one of these sizes made just get a chunkier tire: 200/65 or 195/67.

and

Advan 052s
YokohamaADVAN A052

Both are fantastic tires.

I'm very curious about 195/70R15, but it's currently only available as a heavy van tire. If it measured a tad small at around 25.5" tall and was in the 18-20 lb range, that would be sweet.

I don't think that's a common Porsche size though, is it? I think 185 is the stock size, then it jumps to 205.

I've been wondering - Is there any meaningful difference between 205/50/15 and 205/55/15? I'm running the latter on 15x7s and it appears there are a lot more options if I go to a 50-series tire.

I'm not sure but I think for this use case we can assume the proper profile to be correct for a vintage Porsche.

285/45 or 295/45 would be ideal for me. Pirelli only offers 285/40 or 345/35 for their P7 Cinturato, so I went with 285/40 on 15x11. Going to have to lower the car quite a bit to level out the wheel gap

As Chuck Miller said run Toyo RA1's. Excellent all around tire. quiet, good life if you don't track them... Run 205/50/15 up front and 225/50/15 in back or run 225's all the way around.... you'll must likely have to run a little negative camber up front for this.

It is a great setup.

What are you running in the front? 245?

295/45-15 would be 25.45" tall. The side wall height on the 15's starts to look balloonish at a point. 345/45-14 are 24.5" tall, 225/50-15s are 23.85" tall. Sweet spot seems to be under 25" tall to keep the sidewall height in check.

Fronts are 225/50 on 15x9. I think a 235 tire on 15x9 would be nice, but 235/50 is too big and 235/45 is too small. I prefer slightly meatier sidewalls on the rear.

I agree now, 295/45 would be a bit too tall. I keep forgetting I'm going down from 16s to 15s. I guess it's a good thing there aren't many options, since I'm prone to making some dumb (and expensive) decisions.

Just something that could be semi affordably ran on 15x11's and 9's is all I'd want. Especially since anything 17 or larger in diameter on a 911 looks just wrong to me. It's unlikely to ever happen though, so a bit silly to wish for.
