Shift coupler
Hi All!
I have a 1971 911T that I have restored. I run the original dogleg 901 transmission. All bushings and coupler are new. Still I'm not happy with the shifting. Maybe I can adjust it some more but I've been on this for three years now. I'm thinking about to try something different. Found that there are flexible couplers for electric motors. See image. What do you think? Too stiff? I wonder how much movement it is on the gearbox shift axle? I think the coupler could be stiffer. All input appreciated! Jörgen Forssling Gothenburg SWEDEN

I have a 72 with the 915 .. on mine I just needed to work that coupler . adjusting it a bit at a time to finally get it dialed in. I think working with what you have is better than trying to adapt some non standard piece.

I use the Stomski Racing Precision Shift Coupler. It’s a ball and socket unit and it made my shifter feel much tighter than a new stock coupler which I also tried.

I have the Rennshifter and Stomski coupler on the exact same transmission. I spent a good bit of time in the past week adjusting it after it came loose and still wasn't happy. It turns out my clutch was out of adjustment. An hour of up-and-down on the lift and the car shifts so much smoother after getting the clutch dialed in.
You also should check the condition of your clutch cable and pedal assembly if the above doesn't work.
