The chassis gets treated with this while I do metal work, I have never had flash rusting issues, it's like gold to me.

Some more of the front and other areas after media blasting. It still needs some finishing touches, but those areas are basically done.

We decided to splice in some rear quarter panel sections. It could have gone either way, since this car was pretty rust free, we thought it would be cool to save as much original steel as possible.

This car had somewhat of a unique vision. We talked about maybe just putting a coat of primer on it and driving it that way so seeing some of the seams would add a "cool" factor, it's not metal finished to perfection. It's very clean, but it's not all finessed with a shrinking disc or anything. It's just welded, knocked the weld off with 3M 80 grit roloc and spent a few minutes bumping it around.

The quarter panels had a lot of little dents. I would say roughly 4 hours of bumping around, hammer, dolly, slapper, fussing with some PDR (paintless dent removal) tools and you could have it a lot closer.

Nice work, really nice work! Evidently you've had a little practice.

Another little area. I swear this was built in obsolescence. These cars really needed a wheel well, but this area should have at least been designed a little different.

I didn't notice this area until after media blasting. It's always way better to media blast in the beginning, but the vision for the project evolved over time. It was an annoying little spot. We still thought it would be cool to save the original rockers even though it has a few splices. Especially since I can splice cleanly.

Super impressive work David, I wouldn't hesitate one second to leave my chassis with you!

Love the jig you built to fit the front latch panel, that is a tricky one to replace and the get panel fitments right afterward.

Cheers,
Lukas

Add me to the what must be a long list of very happy customers of David. Last year he did the repairs to my '67 912 which suffered from battery acid corrosion in the front cross member. I'm sorry to see him move from CT. He is a true craftsman, and his work is first class in every way. I'm sure he will do well in CA once the word gets around. Every time I put my 912 on my lift and look at the quality of your work on the front end, I simply marvel at his results. Best of luck, David from Tim in Stonington.

Some photos of the front rocker section going in. It was a bit unusual to do it this way, but mostly original rockers is a cool thing. Also, this wasn't a final fit on the fenders/doors, just a quick check, I mainly wanted to get the length of the rocker correct.

More photos, it was almost done at this point. The inner rocker/floorpan area was pushed up from a lift or maybe even a collision. Some of the fender support panel had stripped/mangled threads.
