This is my SC starting cold, after several days sitting in the garage. No priming via throttle, no cranks with removed fuel pump relay, or so. Just entered and turned the key once...

After I fixed the CSV on my 1978SC the engine started too quickly for me. So now I remove the fuel pump relay, operate the starter until I get oil pressure, then replace the relay before starting the engine. I worry about wear on valve gear with the engine starting so readily.

This exact procedure I also do after the car was sitting after a several months winter break. But as well here this procedure is mainly for a better personal feeling because much of the engine oil will drain from the oil tank to the crank caseover time. With this procdeure you mainly make sure that you remove that superfluous oil from the crank case back to the oil tank and yes, you make sure that most of the bearing point are lubricated. But still they will be anyway, even if you don't do this... I guess it's far more important that you give the engine that moment after start to transport the oil to all bearing points before you slightly push the throttle for the first time to roll out it of the garage/barn...

There are several under that brand name and other brand names. I guess the bird filters links to other vendors. The one you want runs around $50-$60, and is a large kit.
Every time I go to Chinazon, I get different prices and brands, but most of them obviously are the same kit, just different names. Look closely at the pictures, and you will see that the kit has a T and valve, with hoses on each end, located at the bottom of the upper cover. That's the piece you want.

Search for this string of words:

Pro Master Fuel Injection Pressure Tester Kit - Perform Fuel Pressure Testing, Diagnose Weak Fuel Pumps, Test Fuel Flow, and Leak-Down - Works on Vehicles 1997 and Newer
