Thoughts & Opinions on PennGrade High Performance
It looks like the last time my mechanic did an oil change on my 83SC 911 he used PennGrade High Performance Oil SAE 20W-50 Partial Synthetic oil (is this the same thing as Brad Penn?) and a W 940/29 Mann Filter. Any thoughts or opinions on these? Should I go ahead and just use the same thing for my oil change I will do myself?

Won't comment about the oil other than to say, that is a good product, and yes, its the old Brad Penn.
The filter is excellent. Mahle's made in China now have apparently had some issues, so we stopped using them to eliminate risk and use the MANN now. Cheers

I've used the PennGrade 20/50 (formerly BradPenn) for 25 years in my '82. It's done 270,000 miles, case has never been split to my knowledge, 125,000 miles under my ownership. Regular oil/filter changes every year or 5000 miles. Don't want to mess with success on motor oil.

That’s a pretty impressive record.

That is what my mechanic uses as well. A bit pricey but so is an engine rebuild.
