Solved - tracking down a under dash buzzing
Solved - Would love a little guidance before I tear into things as I'm still learning these cars.
Constant buzzing coming from behind the dash with the ignition on. seems to be loudest behind the HVAC controls. 1) Pulled the radio - cant see anything there. 2) Pulled the clock - sound seems loudest towards center. 3) Under the hood - much quieter and still sounds central. 4) Opened the smugglers box - not coming from there. 5) with doors and hood closed - not really audible outside the car. 6) no chance with AC fan or dash fan activated - meaning buzz still faintly audible when they are running and no chance with fan speed. Thoughts on what I should be looking at for likely suspects. Hardest area under the dash to get a look at with the center console and AC. have a video but not sure how to load those. thanks - car is an '86 carrera.
don't think it's the warning buzzer describer relay as it's definitely coming from the center of the dash - but will go check the "buzzer" in the ignition switch. also here is a video link. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/trfwuXD6iSk |

Nope..not the buzzer but may be a relay malfunctioning. Just curious, is your fresh air blower on? Does the sound change if you try to turn the fresh air fan to a higher setting.

Fresh air blower works fine and no change in noise when at full blast - just harder to hear. Same with AC fan.

Last suggestion. Is there a chance that is your fuel pump that is not properly isolated? If you open the trunk and get over the fuel tank can you get a better dial in on the noise or does it sound louder?

thanks - appreciate the suggestion but it's quieter under the hood than in the car.
