When you move to Austin, dont ever ever ever take your car to 6th st at night! I love the place, but you run a very high risk of a break in. Just a heads up. Aside from that, 2222 has some well known twisties and there are some really fun areas to enjoy your car. I will be moving there this time next year and I hope to meet you at an Austin-Pelican meeting. It seems the Austin group has been growing. I lived in Austin since 91' up until 1.5 yrs ago...I cant wait to get back. With a festival everyother weekend and the Spamarama and lots a live music, you will have a wonderful time.

Thanks, guys, for the info/opinion!
RazorRacer, don't wait by the phone . . . {;] chuckr, GREAT news that the Hill Country PCA is a strong club -- I'm a member of the San Diego club, but travel so much I've never made an event. You also helped with the next big concern: "which independent shop in Austin does the best work?" Sounds like Scott's ******** is well-regarded. Kemo, you're right: 6th street is a gas -- and we'll keep the p-car at home on those nights. If I can find a band quickly, we'll need to take the Honda Pilot so I can schlep the guitars/amps . . . We're off to visit Austin next week to do neighborhood shopping . . . Cheers! C. |

Edmonds, keep the car of coarse.
Be careful buying a house in Austin. There are some great houses in some bad neighborhoods. And the traffic is getting bad, too. Be sure you go against traffic to get to work and back. Hope to meet you at the next Lone Star DE at Texas World Speedway.

If you check the Austin Porsche Club web site, there is a ad for a realtor that is a member. THis is a very active club with many interestes. There are a few musicians in the club also ! BTW... I have a 1983 Guards Red Targa with the Brown interior.
Good Luck with your move... Austin is a fantastic place to live, I miss it. |

RazorRacer, I work out of my house about a week a month, on the road the rest of the month . . . all I need is a decent commute to Bergstrom Airport and the AA Admirals Club.
Right now, my commute to the San Diego airport is 45 min. in no traffic (rare) and 2.5 hours in traffic (more the norm). I-35 in Austin sometimes reaches that peak, but there are a lot of ways to get to SE Austin . . . Cheers! C. |

I would say take your baby with you. You put all that time and effort into it, keep for a while longer, and enjoy the rides, and the views of your new stomping ground.
