Don't need to remove bumper - in fact removing valance is best first step for removing bumper. Bolts (13mm a/f and not captive) are best reached from wheel well - then release last ones inside luggage compartment - apart form access it's an easy job.

It's easier if you jack the car up and put it on stands so you can get up close and personal with the valance
I've done it a couple of times and is a 3-4 on Wayne's 101 scale.

There are two bolts inside the trunk in the nose of the car that need to be removed. It is a easy job except the tight fit to remove the side rubber pieces.

Does removing the valance -as per above procedure- mean that the rubber spoiler lip (which I assume is attached to the valance only) comes off at the same time?
I assume it would then be easier to replace that rubber spoiler in one swoop, with the valance removed ? (after I've had it repainted, which would be my reason for removing the valance...)

Yes, the lip is attached to the valence and comes off with it.

Porsche Crest

Hi,

Well I had to remove bumper to remove valance,on right side of valance the bolt is behind bumper bracket and oil cooler and motor,I might paint the front bumper, now that it is off,due to rock chips.
