I will upload some cam specs to the sight soon. It will help people choose the best cam for they're application. I have several options. My M1 cam is about as good as I can do for CIS motors. However we have not tried them on a 3.2 moronic yet.. They work well on 2.7's also. The cam was designed for the 930/10 engine. (9.8:1 compression 3 liter) Thanks, WILLIAM KNIGHT

I wanted to give William a shout out here. I have known him for 6-7 years now, he has always been willing to help to anything Porsche questions I have ever had. I have two sets of his cams I will be installing soon, one M1 cams into a stock 3.0 liter and a set for 3.4 engine that was built by him. Just an all around good dude. I am really looking forward to this.
My shout out, I was working on installing MSD ignition onto my 3.0 liter in my car over this past weekend and was texting with him a bit. I was having troubles with a part of it, He called and ran through a few things with me and within 30 minutes after working on a few wires. Car was up and running. William is a Porsche experts and really knows his ways around these cars. Thanks William.

Throwing in a big thanks to William Knight.
I bought a '74 911 that was missing the engine and transaxle. I ended up with a useable '83 915 and a 1980 3.0 engine that needed to be rebuilt. I did a stock rebuild, but was disappointed in the engine performance... Subsequently, the engine developed an oil leak @ the #8 main bearing and I had to tear the engine back down. I researched 3.0 performance mods and found William's M1 cams that work with the CIS injection. I decided to take a gamble (not inexpensive) since multiple people seemed pleased. I figured that if I still wasn't happy with the engine's performance, I would just sell the car. Breaking it in again now... I'll be keeping this car! I'm really surprised that making this one change has made such a difference. I had an '89 Carrera and was unimpressed with the acceleration. Likewise, the 3.0 with stock cams... Now I'm going to need to work on the car's handling. Or, perhaps, also my driving skills... |

William is the best. He has built me several engines all have exceeded expectations. His engines played a large part in my two PCA National Championships. We have a new 3.746L build we are just about to install in the race car and tune. Can't wait!!
P.S. Those M1 cams William developed are fantastic.

Just wanted to share my recent experience with Mr. Knight. I was having a hard time putting together what I felt was cohesive set of components to get the best out of my rebuild. I was also becoming more and more afraid of counterfeit parts which I seem to see a fair amount of these days on the forum.
So, I reached out to Mr. Knight based off this thread in large part, having never talked to him before and he was very responsive and generous with his time. We talked about a few possible variations for the rebuild and settled on a plan. I asked him if he would be able to then help me procure the parts, and he obliged. Having his knowledge and reach has really been key. My new parts started showing up extremely promptly and everything looks really good. He also supplied my camshafts which was another equally painless transaction. Knowing that all my parts came from reputable suppliers and just general known commodities has given me peace of mind ordering all these components. All in all just want to echo previous praise and encourage others like me to reach out to him if they find themselves in the same boat. His help has been invaluable. I have spent decades building a good name for myself. Now life is full of change and hindsight is 20/20. I had a few rough rears and am now getting back to full speed. I made the decision to change my name to my blood name and Knight was my adopted name. My name is William Marshall. My reason for posting this is I want people who reach out to me know I am not a scammer and I am the same person, I just changed my name. KNIGHTRACE will still be the shop name for now.

Thank you for the update William. Your guidance regarding your camshafts (K45's) and your exhaust headers (1-5/8" with 2-1/4" collectors) was instrumental in making my P75 2.8L project into a street-able, fun to drive hot rod. Thanks again!

I just thought I owed this thread a bump.
I am attempting my first rebuild and I ran into a deck height question. William had helped me procure some parts for the build, so I shot him a text hoping I wasn't bothering him... And he called me right back and talked me through my question. He expanded on a method of verifying deck height that is referenced in the Dempsey book, Prob saved me a little extra clean up but helped me get some clarity that is hard to get reading about it. Super nice guy, its been very helpful to have someone who is willing to share their hard earned experience. |

Finally have been able to drive around my completed motor that William helped me spec out. What is a stock 3.0 SC motor with a few upgrades, most notably the bigger P/C's of a 3.2, 964 oil pump, M1 cams, and the headers he's floated around this forum.
The sound is great even with just a normal dansk muffler, the motor pulls hard and the best part is it's really able to breathe with the hot weather & traffic in Chicago. The temps stay cool even with the stock SC oil cooler setup. William helped me spec out a motor he promised would deliver on performance and longevity and I couldn't be happier!! Thanks again for all the help William Marshall, you are a true gem to the community. Already looking forward to spec out the future build with some more power! -Moe |

William: Do you have any plans to make the cams with the later SC and Carerra style cam/sprocket bolts, instead of the big nuts? It would be easier for those who have later style cams (most of us do), and would not require them to buy/borrow/rent that expensive Crowfoot wrench, and have to buy the nuts too. I would think it would be a little cheaper to manufacture the cam for the bolt style too.
