Red face Thud sound in hard right turn

Twice now, I have heard a thud come from the front left suspension during a hard right turn. It sounds like something is shifting or loose. Any likely culprits? As far as I know, no suspension work has ever been performed. The car has 94K on it now.

Sure there's nothing in the trunk? I had one of those, turned out I left a ziped-closed binder of all sorts of Porsche related info in there.

Maybe the battery isn't tied down, and is wobbing against the side of the trunk when you turn hard?

This and another recent thread regarding a noise remind me of my belief that we usually overlook the simple and obvious. We could suspect catastrophic torsion bar failure, etc., but in reality something is probably rolling around in your trunk. Or maybe your washer reservoir hose is loose.

On the earlier thread, I almost posted a note about ring & pinion problems, etc, just as a joke. In that thread, I thought the best post was the one suspecting there is a rock in a rear tire tread.

The point is, suspect the simplest things first, not the most compex/expensive. You'll usually be right, and you'll save money and aggravation.

That did not occur to me. I suppose I was dreading the worst. That could well explain it. (Cheap fix too!) It might be the battery because I noticed it was not tied down just last week when I was working on the heater hoses. I moved it a little and probably did not secure it as it was before. Maybe its time I clamped it down. That means that I can still plan on getting new Bilstein sports all the way around. Woohoo!

Well there you go then. I predict that to be your culprit.

Once I was at the track and when I'd brake I'd feel something hitting the back of my seat. Turned out to be my codriver's helmet. Doh!

Chris, I beleive Andras explained that in his garage lift thread. I distinctly remember the cantilever explanation - "Imagine a heavy bowling ball in the end of a vertical pencil."
Hehehe

My brother did this to me once. Going to lunch on a Monday.
It had me all bothered. I couldn't hear it. Finally we found an empty beer bottle under the passangers seat.

It wasn't me,....... really!
I was the designated driver.
I wouldn't have left the bottle in the car!
