What is disconnected here: 81SC rear fuse panel area?
Well, I just got done fiddling the heater wiring back in place for the rear glass that I replaced.
I ran into this disconnected piece. You can see it highlighted (brighter section in pic), 3 pole male. Looks like some of the juice would go into the 'grey box' right above it. The female connector that is pulled comes off the harness that also feeds the rear fuse panel. What is this connector? What does it feed? What is that gray box above it? And do I need it. ![]() Thanks! George ![]() |

The grey box is either the heat blower motor relay or the rear window defroster relay, I don't remember which. I have the same open three prong connector in my car, not sure what its for.

It's the external voltage regulator's noise supressor. If you have the newer style alternator with the internal voltage regulator, you can remove it along with the external voltage regulator. Here they are after I removed them from my car.

What I'd like to know is what's missing from the top fuse in the 3 fuse block pictured. My 75 looks exactly like that and I was going on the impression that the top fuse was for the rear window defogger which was why mine didn't work...
There's power to the switch and on to the relay (tall silver box on top of fuse block) but the wires seem to disappear shortly thereafter. Help!

The connector for the heated glass is in the photo, below the fuse box, laying on the engine compartment rubber. It has a two round pin connector and mates to a harness that comes down the left side near the engine lid hinge. |

Rob: Thanks for the info! That it is the alternator regulator makes sense. I have receipts from the PO a new alternator installed, about 20k miles ago!
And yes, Ed, you identified the connector for the glass heating correctly. It was tucked away under the fuse panel, that's why I had a hard time finding it! ![]() George |
