Stumbled on this today and thought I'd post it here as I know there was interest here and ownership of this car. Have to look close to notice the 935 content but its there lol. I wonder if Phil was an investor in the team or what? --FYI it says (I'm pretty sure) "Desperado Racing"

935s center stage at Amelia Island
A whole fleet of them... including LM winning Salvet car... and a great quote by the organizer. : “The 935 is a glorious mutant and it may well be the ultimate Porsche because it has the silhouette of a 911 and the speed of a 917,”

There is a quote from a 935 driver - not sure who first said it, but I heard Bob Akin say it while presenting at a PCA meeting (and I paraphrase) - "You can't make a racecar out of a pig, but you can make one reeaaally fast pig."

The Eagles sponsored the "Desperado" car, you know like their song "Desperado"

935 with a Grateful Dead connection - I'm intrigued. Sounds like a Wittington project.

The Eagles did not sponsor the Desperado 935. Clif called the car "Desperado" because, and I am quoting him, "I was desperate to race." Clif was referring to himself and his love of racing. He also, on occasion, ran Emmylou Harris" in the windscreen because she was one of his favorite performers.
I know this because Clif Kerns told me this directly when I owned and raced Desperado.

How many you need ? I have a lot of people hit me up for fans they want to modify for other cars and as long as I can confirm what car they are going on and the price is agreed upon I occasionally sell some. Recently provided a Loos 935 with fans

I assume most of us following this thread have seen the documentary about 935s on YouTube called Moby and the Warhorse Gang: https://youtu.be/wg0l8RdOBO8

A great video.
I have copies of that video on VHS and DVD-- know some of the folks in it, and of course some of the folks are no longer with us. Great story about the Mountain View, CA based team that competed on the world stage. The "family tree" of enthusiasts, businesses (like Automotion) and service providers from those racing efforts is quite extensive. That same short section of road (Old Middlefield) later included the Rennwerks business/team formed by two of my former students who went on to a third overall at Daytona in a GT car (that is the year that TRG won overall in a GT car). And of course PCA members/volunteers were highly involved. Hoping to see some old friends at Werks this year, and/or at the three-day PCA DE and Club Race at Sears Point the weekend after. Old friends like VZ935. Have some young PCA friends that are eager to meet VZ935 as they follow him on IG. I remember that yellow and purple car!

Tubeframe
Hi all,
11 years ago, I posted some pics of the Kremer Racing booth from the Essen Motorshow in Germany, where the exposed a tubeframe, which was meant to be used for their K4 replica project. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/6668186-post4919.html Some days ago, I stumbled over this sales ad from Kremer Racing: https://www.motorsportmarkt.de/en/inserat/56935/kremer-racing-porsche-frame-prototype-motorsport Some pics from the ad from Kremer Racing (no affiliation) ![]() ![]() ![]() Perhaps I‘m wrong, but to me, it looks pretty much like the same tubeframe. If somebody has something “weird“ in mind, this could be perhaps a good starting point, as it is most probably a close copy of the original one, if not an even better one. Food for thoughts… G |
