I'm fixing the gremlins in my newly aquired 87, and I noticed this large hole in the luggage compartment. Its on the passenger side. The same hole on the drivers side has the fuel filler pipe going through it. I noticed the studs, and it looks like they might hold some sort of lid on. Is this the normal setup? It looks like the dirt on the floor of the trunk came from the hole?
Thanks for taking a look!

Yes, you put your stash in the hole and then seal it up. Oh, wait that's the smuggler's box. There has to be a cover, those studs have to have a purpose.

Yep, that's what my '88 looks like. Could it be for the old power antennas?
