Should I be worried? Melted/deformed fuel pump relay

Guys,

I pulled out my fuel pump relay while testing CIS pressure and this is what I found - should I be worried? Looks as though the relay is getting extra-hot.

FP relay manufacturer.......

Could you post picture of the top of the relay? First come to mind is 'Made in China'. If that's the case, look for a better quality FP relay for replacement.

Picture of fuse #6 and relay (Made in China):

Fuse contacts look good John. Warping from relay appears to be heat-related.

clean the fuse and fuse contacts. remove the wires and clean the ends of the wires along with the screw that contacts the wire.

drive the car and cehck fuse and relay for temp.

you could even remove the fuse and connect an amp meter in its place. should be around 7 amps.

get a bosch relay

I wouldn't run any Chinese electrical components in my car, or my house.

The plastic fuse body will soften before the metal prongs will discolor. If you have a high resistence, eventually that circuit will fail. You may even have to replace the fuseholder.

I don't like this fuse, at all:

You have a fuse that doesn't look like it is seated well, the wire end is frayed, the wire insulation is discolored from heat...

Make sure you use good fuses. Some of them are crap. You have several different types in there.

The appearance of the circled fuse is very common. It's a 25 or 30amp A/C fuse and provides 12v for both the evaporator fan AND the front condenser fan. Too much current for that single circuit. A lot of folks have split the load to two fuses to prevent what you see in the pic! Plus a third inline fuse to the front condenser fan to prevent a known FIRE hazard!
