Carrera Idle Control Valve

I have the usual issues with erratic idle when starting from cold on the Carrera engine. Removed the idle control valve today to give it a shot of carb cleaner - lots of dirt evident! However I notice that the arrow on the valve body points up when fitted i.e. from manifold to air cleaner. Surely valve when fitted should show arrow from air cleaner to manifold, this being direction of flow?

Marks/corrosion on valve body would suggest that my valve has always been fitted in what I consider to be the incorrect attitude. Before I refit, can anyone confirm whether valve body arrow should point up or down.

The arrow on my idle control valve points down; arrow is on the right side of the valve as you look at it. Been that way for many years and the valve works fine.
