Just because it isn't unclothed women doesn't mean it's not porn. Just because our wives/girlfriends "accept" what we do doesn't mean it isn't "lust." Come on, look at the last CGT or GT3 thread.

My name is Chris and I belong to that subset of Porsche-aholic, the Boost-aholic. I check the board every day. At least once. Sometimes I search for people I know to see what they are posting on.

True story. Bunch of us Atlanta Pelicans met for a mountain drive. We stood there looking at each other trading our real names. Bunch of blank faces. We only came alive when we started trading our board names. "Hi, I'm Blkbird." "Hi, I'm 911Cab". Suddenly we were all good buddies.

God I love this board.

Everytime I have a conversation with someone, it seems I'm quoting something from this BBS. Been here two years now and I'd say it's a habit, but not an addiction? Yet?

I've made some good friendships from this board as well and considering my retractive personality; it's working for me.

Good News is that my best friend, Mike; whom I let drive my car often, talked about Porsche's often, went and bought his very own 911. He's lurking here now, but hasn't posted; yet? He only lives 10 minutes from me and we both have 911's now......... ohhhh, goody goody gumdrops.

Pheads are always welcome in my home.

I got to tell you last weekend it was raining and I needed to work on my Pcar but instead, I spent the time on this BBS.
That would be only one sign of addiction, I would have to have a few more to be a real Pelicoholic.

Take this test, substituting Pelican BBS for Alcohol, and then meet me at the nearest bar and we'll drink till the urge to post passes

ARE YOU DRINKING TOO MUCH ALCOHOL?

Answer each question with YES or NO:

1. Imagine yourself at a party. You have an empty glass. Do you always actively look for a refill instead of waiting for someone to offer you a drink?

2. When you're pouring your own drink, do you usually pour a more generous drink for yourself than what others are drinking?

3. Do you often have a drink or two when you are at home alone or in a bar alone?

4. Is your drinking ever the direct cause of a family argument?

5. Do quarrels in your family ever occur, even by coincidence, when you have had a drink or two?

6. Is there any specific time during the day when you feel you must have a drink, such as right after work?

7. If someone asks how much you have been drinking, do you ever lie?

8. Do you ever take a drink to settle your nerves or relieve stress?

9. Is drinking ever a cause for you to take off work?

10. Have you ever missed any meetings or appointments because of drinking?

11. If you don't have at least one drink a day, do you feel deprived physically?

12. Do you sometimes crave a drink in the morning?

13. Have you ever experienced a "morning after" when you cannot remember what occurred the night before?

If you answered "Yes" to any one of the questions, consider it a warning that there is a problem. Do not increase your intake of alcohol. Two "Yes" responses may indicate that you may already be dependent upon alcohol. Three or more "Yes" answers are a clear indication that you have a severe problem and you should seek professional help.

I've really appreciated the trust factor found in this forum. It shouldn't be underestimated how valuable it can be. Folks posting here place their reputations on the line, so they tend to give good, honest feedback, or acknowledge that they have no idea. You'd be hard pressed to find an equal level of P-Car experience elsewhere.

Zoanas, I totally agree with you. This forum has made Porsche ownership accessible to normal people. Well, not that we're anything like "normal," but you know what I mean. It's easy to get hooked on friendly people, good knowledge, and well ... Porsches. Heck, I got caught by my boss checking for updates just today (again). How embarrassing!

I've often wondered if my wife thinks I have an online girlfriend or am surfing porn because I spend so much time here. When she does come by to say 'hi' and she sees me here, and I read some of the crazy creative stuff here, she just laughs. But then she is addicted to gardening sites...

It is addicting to help people with their problems and to demystify things that at first seem complex. I really enjoy, for example, helping people fix their Alternator issues- the electrical system is something that seems daunting at first, then when you look at the wiring diagram, seems REALLY complicated. It's cool to help people get comfortable fixing their own stuff-- not only do they save $$$, but they soon discover that THEY are more of an expert than the mechanic down the block.

John,

It too bad you don't do Audi electrical. I lost my dash lights - the fuses are fine and I don't want to start swapping parts. May be in the light stalk, but maybe not. Time to diversify! Gotta love older German autos

This board provides lots of positive therapy. I don't think I would have gotten as far on my rebuild without it. Each time I get frustrated or tired jacking with it. I leave it alone and read for a while and get recharged. Much cheaper than taking to a shop or going to a shrink.

Love this place.... Daniel

Pelican is cool, but . . .

Ever do a search for "porn"over at Thom's site?:

http://www.vintagebus.com/

It's the best of both worlds, IMHO. Just tell your wife you were looking for some "spindles".

BR,

Kurt
