This is Guards Red. It has orangish tones and is not a dark red at all. Actually "glows" going down the road.

I don't have a good pic, but my guards red glasurit respray absolutely glows when waxed and in the sun. It is the most orange variety, but still looks red. There are definitely different guards reds too. I've purchase a few low mileage factory original body parts that are slightly more red than mine.

There's only one better color and that's meteor gray.

Yes its very bright a vibrant blood red, their are actually 4 shades of it, I found this out when I went to get a can of touch up paint from a Glasurit seller, I couldn't tell the difference in the chips though

I have bought Guards Red on more than one occassion. The color seems to be consistant, but there are some years it was called Indian Red according to the auto paint store.

The 356 I had for 6 mos. was painted a Ferrari red. It did make the Guards Red look more orange. By itself, it's pretty damn red. It will fade, that I have personal knowledge of.

Is the quality / life span of Ferrari Red as good as Gaurds Red?

Are there differnt brands of the Ferrari red?

If so, which is best??

You can get Ferrari red in most any brand, the Glasurit Fer600 is the same brand paint Porsche used on the older 911s so its the best. Few shops use Glasurit today as its so expensive and harder to shoot, as long as the shop is using a quality paint it will look good.

Jack/Doozer, Thx for the kind words.

Doozer, I'm having my wife look up the paint code at her work, as that's where they painted (and continue to touch up...) the car.

I recently also was informed that there are a couple different "Ferrari Reds"

I found the below quote from jryerson very interesting myself,

I imagine it would be hard for me to pick out the subtle differences of the various Ferrari Reds as well, but none the less, Great info guys.

Thanks.

"The Color is Ferrari Red No.300" she said....

That's the color of my 911 accd'g to the wife...and she ought to know.

As far as the nuances of which shade of "ferrari reds" is the "brightest" I would imagine that since they are all in the same primary red color group of brilliant blood reds, the differences would be rather subtle, dependant on the light in which they are viewed in at the time.

One thing is certian, and that is any shade of "Ferrari Red" is going to be leagues brighter than any Porsche Factory red.

From a culturally historic viewpoint, the Germans have never really been as flashy as the Italians when it comes to color palettes.

cheers

Not a Ferrari color but one of my new favorites is Imola Red from BMW. I'd love to get an older 911, fix it up like Jack's and paint it that color of red.

Wow! I just visited BMW's site and that Imola red looks great. Very sporty without being to flashy or garish. I think I might have found my new color!

Doozer,

Sorry, its true you can't believe what you read on the internet, I just rechecked my car and the correct Glasurit color for Ferrari red is Fer 300/6, the Fer600 was for my silver painted wheels.
