Porsche Crest Muffler Alternatives for 3.6 Conversion?

Looking for good sounding, good looking alternatives for '95 993 3.6L with stock heat exchangers. Currently I have the stock resonator with exhaust tips hooked straight to the exchangers, very loud and lot's of popping on downshifts. I have an Instant-G Custom Dual in-Dual Out Exhaust on order, but I'm out 2 months now and get nothing but the run around, apparently Kenny is taking his time on my exhaust. I've read that the B&B exhaust is pretty loud too. Are there any other alternatives, that look good, sound good and will fit under the '74?

I have the Triad exhaust. It was something like $575 shipped and bolts to Bischot (sp) flanges. I love the sound, but I'm not sure what it does for power. There is not much, if any, drone, and I've gotten many compliments on the sound.

If you search the archives for "Triad", you will see plenty of pictures & discussions of the setup.

Re: Muffler Alternatives for 3.6 Conversion?

Mine is a Dynomax SuperTurbo. About $85 Great sound not as loud as a Flowmaster, but lots louder than stock. Deep rumble. I love it.

so is the 74 rebodied to look like a 993...or is the blue one pictured just for reference to the 993 exhaust?

why not turn a banana muffler into a two in, two out? the one on my 3.0 74 sounds mean as can be.

I went with Flowmaster also on my 72 - 3.6 conversion. I went with a "stealthier" implementation and routed the exhaust downward and filled in the exhaust cutout on the rear valence. Again, you really can't beat the price/performance ratio. I'm using headers but the installation is the same with heat exchangers.

Here's a better shot of the muffler and outlet.

EDIT - Never mind - I didn't read your post right ...I see your just looking for the muffler.

If I were you I would call Kenny McNiel at AWE and talk to him. I bought my set-up striaght from him (through my mechanic) and had it in about 4 days. I'll be at his shop later this week if you want me to follow-up.

I have the CCI's on one of my race cars (560hp) and honestly they seem much louder than their website would lead you to think. Being a race car I have the 2 disc in a large diameter pipe, but they would be hard pressed to be streetable without cat's. If your still running Cat's then it may work and give you a very LIGHT WEIGHT and clean install. Power does seem to be good.

Yes it's been rebodied to look like a 993. I finally received my muffler from Instant-G. It looks nice but of course I now have to have it reworked to fit the tips under the rear cut outs. Anybody know a good muffler shop in South Florida?
