I bought the convertible top and headliner from AutoInternational in LA, but there is no instruction how to install the headliner. I have been searching on internet for almost 5-yr and could not find any info on how to install headliner for convertible top. Thank you so much in advance.

Good question. Mine is 31 years old and has few rub holes so it looks untidy. I'm afraid it's not a do-it-yourself item though? I don't live where there are talented upholsterers. :(

My 1983 SC Cab update...

After a couple of years of detailing here's how my Moss Green Metallic over Champaign leather 1983 911 SC Cabriolet ended up.

I spent months spot filling paint chips on the door edges and hood and carefully clayed, buffed, polished and waxed. I think it will do! (I drive this car about 12K miles/year) The wheels were carefully cleaned and the black spokes and anodized rims treated with Otter Butter (a waxy/vaseliny material I manufacture for fly fishing lines but I use on a lot of other things). The center caps were refinished with matching satin black. I just got a new set of anodized lugs to spiff things up a bit "down there". You can't really see it in the front shot but there was a notch in my "smile" on the passenger side. My buddy Chris Bennet got me a replacement and installed while I watched last fall (well, I watched while on my back under the bumper with wrenches in my hand removing fasteners.)

Inside, I used Leatherique on the dark brown leather (dash, window sills) and had it color matched to a sample I sent in. On the seats and door panels I used ColorPlus - again, I sent in a sample of my Champaign leather for color matching. I wanted to test each product and I can say the process and results are excellent for both. I don't know that I would recommend one or the other, they both work well and now after 1 full year of driving, the seats still look excellent.

All of the plastic parts (window and door handles, etc) were cleaned carefully and Mother's Back to Black applied to make them pop.

I steam cleaned the carpets and refurbed the door pockets with new flocking and Leatherique. I've since "hydrated" the leather steering wheel cover and it looks much nicer. I've also replaced the 2000s vintage stereo with the correct Blaupunkt Monterey SQR22 (non working but it looks right in the dash). Final touch was new CocoMatt on the floor to match.

The top and cover were carefully cleaned and treated with water repellant and UV blocker.

The engine was simply maintained and cleaned whenever I had to drop it (transmission 1st gear replace, tranny seal). I have since also carefully cleaned the fan and shroud and treated with Gibbs, I also replaced the anodized strap.

After ten years I finally did the interior over completely with new leather and tartan, new dash, and lots of little parts.
I removed the old ugly linen interior and shipped everything to TONY at Autos International and I gotta say….it was worth the effort to use the best man for the job…really outstanding service, workmanship, and quality.
