Triple Black..............Coupe????

Something that bugs me - Why do people selling coupes list their cars as "triple black".

Are they just looking for things to enhance their ad?

Triple - anything is for cabs. Black exterior, Black Interior, Black top.

I thought it might be the tires, but did they even but redlines or white walls on the 356s?

Lol,

The reason you will see this is most Porsche coupes have a white headliner...but some have black...my 87 for exampe has black interior, black exterior, and a black headliner...thus Triple black.

Triple black is used in original brochures describing convertibles. ......nothing else.
If you want a triple black, you should have bought a drop top.

You guys crack me up, the things you let bother you, as if there was some predetermined terminology,,,and not a black top in the sales brochure is not known as triple black...sorry.

I wonder if in some people's minds it doesn't mean interior, exterior and trim.

Either way, it is such a cliche'd color combination I have no interested in a "Triple black" car.

When a coupe is listed as "tripple black", I assume it means paint, leather/vinyl, and carpet (as there were "two-tone" cars with black seats/dash/trim and different colored carpet). Others have mentioned they believe its for paint, interior, and headliner.

Triple black:
- exterior
- interior
- headliner

Always was this way as long as I can remember...

Let's face it... 90% of the people selling 911's don't even know where the engine is ... let alone what triple black means...in fact we can't even get concensus amongst the board. (or how to spell concensus)

I thought that it was

1. top (color)

2. Interior

3. exterior

and I also thought that triple black was a term used just for the cab's not the coupe. I could be wrong, but that was my understanding

True triple black has always been for cab's only. I have never heard of a coupe being called triple black

W Ferch has it, and I think Wayne has a post somewhere on the FS board saying a Porsche rep said the same thing to him: leather, carpet, headliner or top is what Porsche is referring to when they say "triple black." I also thought it referred only to cabs.

Wow, I was not expecting such a knowledge base of 911s to be so split.

Next time I see a triple black, cab or coupe listed, I will ask the seller what the three components are they are refering to.

On another note: Auburn, MA, there is a street off I290 named after me.
