Turn Signals Not Working...
Started my car last night to leave my friends house, and i go to take a right hand turn, flip the turn signal switch upwards. And the signal does not light up in the dash, or turn on outside the car. I couldnt figure out what was wrong. I got home and opened up the fuse pannel to check the fuses. My "lower dipped left beam" fuse was broken. However no other were, inclusing the turn signal fuses.
Anyone have any idea what the problem could be? I dont really want to have to drive around for longer than neccessary with my arm out the window, its getting cold out. Thanks in advance. -Riley |
Have you checked:
bulbs on that side? flasher? bad grounds? Any one of these would do the deed under the right (wrong) circumstances. Good hunting. Les |
turn on the signal and go under hood and wiggle all fuses...I had a fuses that had nothing to do with the signal that was misalinged just a tad and i wiggled ti and the signals worked..Sometime the mounting screws for the fuses and boxes themselves are week

Thanks for the input guys. Ill let you know how it goes after i experiment with these ideas.

well, i tiried the ideas above, then checked the turn signal relay switch. I took it off and it was kinda hot, my car had been sitting for a while also. Im pretty sure this might be the problem. I ordered a new relay, and will let you all know if that fixes the problem when it comes in.

does your emergency flasher work?

well, replaced the relay... everything is still the same. Yeah the emergency flashers still work.
Ill keep you guys posted on what is goin on. -Riley |
Just wanted to say that if the emergency flasher works...it is not the relay flasher.......guess you know that now. On the bright side; that also limits your problem significantly. It is most likely not bulbs, bulb grounds, connectins, etc. It has to either be the stalk switch or the wiring between the flasher and the stalk. It is most likely the stalk switch. First make sure there are no loose or broken wires under your dash that come from the turn signal stalk. Make sure the round 6-pin bulkhead connectors unser the dash are all seated correctly. One wire comes from the back of the emergency flasher button, pin 49a and goes to the stalk...that could be broken. If no bad wires....most likely the stalk.

Second the round pin connector under the dash. I disturbed mine while doing some work, and several days later the turnsignals stopped. Mystified me for a bit before I figured it out.
