Solid Targa Top

Today we had a 75 911S Targa In at the shop. I was in the service shop and I saw this targa roof at first look I thought it was one of the Saratoga ones. On closer look it was fiberglass.
Real good looking top come to find it was a factory one and was only available. on the 75 model. The body even had storage tabs that were put in at the factory. I looked it up in the PET and got the part number 911.565.004.40 its decription is Roof Lacquered. Then I called my fav dealer and inquired about them. They retail for $878.38 O'Hell thats a deal! But there no longer available.
To Bad, if they would build them again they would make a $pile
selling them. The owner said it still leaked!
There is some pics. It the 1st one I seen in my 30 years messing around with Porsches.

Pelican (and others) sell a repro fiberglass Targa top for about $500. I'd be curious to see if anybody has one and what they think?

There's also a guy out of Redondo Beach selling one on Ebay for $400. New fiberglass with a textured finish. Thinking of getting one myself.

Question top

I'm always trying to adjust the top because of wind noise in the drivers corner. Does anyone have on of these aftermaket solid tops? I would be really interested to hear some feedback and pics.

Thanks, jt

That link says: "SPARETOP FITS ALL MODELS 67 TO 92"

How can that be? I thought after 86 that the latches changed a bit. No? This looks like quite a bargain IF it fits tight and wind/rain free. Has anyone here tried one?

the pics of that e bay top do not show the clips, plus he says one size fits all? What about the diffs in pins by year? don't some tops have 3 rear pins? I would need more info ....and I would trust Pelican first!

There are two options for aftermarket hard tops. Both have been covered in the archives. Here are two to get you started.

Sundail (ebay ad)

JMPRO (available through Pelican)

That Sundail top on eBay is not as nice as the factory one I saw yesterday . It was very nice and well detailed.
Its to bad we can't get the OEM one any more.
