Cigars and 911's -- Smile
|
Showtime happened to be free this weekend and a Tivo WishList caught a show because of the keyword "Porsche" that I had entered the week I first bought my P-car!
Just thought I'd share the details: 1987 - Charlie Sheen, DB Sweeney, Randy Quaid. A Los Angels policeman puts an undercover deputy in a slick car thief's hot Porsche "chop-shop". There's LOTS of great shots of old P-Cars, a few slant-nose, and tons of late-70,80's 911's all throughout the movie. Some of the shop's scenes are enough to make you drool. Cinematography is above norm for a late 80's movie too, lots of great chase scenes with 911's, etc. The soundtrack really roars when all the porsche's are are up in the RPM range. I archived to DVD-R, but I think you can get a trailer here: http://videodetective.com/home.asp?PublishedID=122

I like the part when Charlie Sheen says that he never touches drugs.

I bought this movie in college when I was still dreaming of having a p-car. It sort of held me over at times until I was able to get a 911. The storyline is pretty weak but there is a fair amount of car footage.
Like the biga$$ Lincoln and a Camaro would ever keep up with a 930 - haha. There is one shot of that silver 930 turning a corner at 30-40mph; it looks pretty much like a 90 degree turn with only a little puff of smoke from the rears - awesome!! jt -84 targa - like the one db sweeney got in the movie but with spoilers. |

I'm a fan of lots of "B" movies and car movies and Porsche movies, but this movie is horrible. There are a couple of cool scenes in this movie, but on the whole, it's horrible. I'd rather watch "The Wraith".

I remember seeing this movie when it first came out....thought it was a horror movie. Scared the crap out of me when I saw how easy it was to steal a Porsche.

Shoot - TiVo didn't catch that for me - must have been some local channel, or a movie channel I don't have...
