Blaupunkt Reno SQR46 Wiring Question
I'm installing the original Reno back in my car after receiving it back from Creative Car Audio in LA after they restored it. The switched 12v to the radio is live but the other 12v wire is dead. I'm guessing that it's the 12v that's always live to keep the settings intact. Creative Car Audio told me both 12v lines must work for the radio and display to work. The previous owner spliced in another wiring harness for the aftermarket radio but left the original harness intact. I don't know whether he cut the other 12v and I don't know what it's tied in with. I know it's not tied in with the cigarette lighter because it still works. I hope the wire is not cut and is only disconnected from the fuse. I'm no whiz on wiring diagrams and am baffled by the attached one below. It wasn't very readable as a single picture so I took the two below and hope someone can read them and make sense of it. Either that or tell me where to look for the beginning of the second 12v wire. As far as I know the roof and the alarm both work but I haven't tried them with the ignition switched off yet. Any thoughts?

I just installed a new/old Porsche radio in my 85 and went thru the whole thing. The radio needs 2 powers supplies, 1 that is always on (so the time stays the same etc.) and 1 that tells the radio to actually turn on, this will also make the radio tell the antenna to go up and turn on the amp if you have one.
It's easy to figure out what works and what doesn't when the car is on or off. I actually didn't want to cut and splice any wires, so I ran 2 power wires to the frunk and wired it directly into the fuse box so I could just screw them into it. Do you have the center console fader, because that is beyond anybody to figure out once disconnected. |

the RENO is option code M158, so you should only have to look at the top half of the first diagram you posted and not the lower half.
looking at the top radio. you should have power coming in on pin 2 and pin 5 Pin 2 wire size, color 2.5, GN: This comes from the ignition switch on a Green wire. This also goes to the convertible top control unit if you happen to have a Cab. This trace continues at location I48 on the diagram. and continues to terminal R on the ignition switch. Pin 5: 1.0,RT: Power is supplied from Fuse block 1 fuse #1 (5amp). This circuit branches to the interior light, do your interior lights work? This trace continues at location L3 on the diagram it you want to follow it. |

Last time I checked the interior light did not come on. I'll check and see if the fuse is blown or missing. I've owned the car 12 years and cannot remember if I've ever had an interior light. I don't believe I have a console mounted fader but will also check on it next time I get a chance to look at the car. My wife is on me to get the pool deck pressure washed and several other tasks but i'll get back on the 930 soon. I'd like to have it ready to listen to for an anniversary drive to the Pisgah Inn soon. We usually have lunch there on our anniversary with some Blue Ridge Parkway driving to boot. The Blaupunkt usually stays on during the boring interstate portions of the trip but is turned off for the mountain roads. Thanks for the replies.

Cabin lights, oh boy. It took me a while to get them working. It's just the glovebox and main light (cabrio) and 2 door contacts, but there are some many little things that can be wrong (mine was a tiny bad switch in the light not wiring (ugh). And testing them is fun because many times you forget if the door is open or shut etc and if the lights are in the right position and come on/off when they should (main goes on if you open the doors, glovebox light only when you open it, so simple, so confusing.
