Classic Le Mans 2006

For any European Pelican's that aren't already aware Classic Le Mans will be running from the 7-9th July this year. The is a biannual event with full details available here:

There is currently a large UK early Porsche contingent made up of Porsche Club Great Britain (PCGB) and Die Deutschen Klassiker (DDK) members travelling down in convoys' from Portsmouth (ferry) and Calais (tunnel). Would be great to see some more European Pelican's there too (and any Amercian's too if you're in that neck of the woods!).

you need me on this, i used to do websites for clubs in Belgium , and obviously had to do pictures of the athmosphere , fit birds basically, i can give you pointers... pure gonzo style...

I was at the '04 Classic we finished with a 3rd place trophy. We were the ONLY US Porsche team at the event and wow, what a trip!
If you want some pix from the Group 6 pits I've got a bunch and I'd be happy to get them to you. I think last year was the best year of my racing life because we raced at Daytona (Rennsport II) later at Sebring and then LeMans.

We won't be going this year, and I think it's gonna kill me not being there. I grew up overseas back in the '60s and my Dad was making plans to take me to the 70 24 Hours, but we returned to the States before that happened. It was always a dream of mine to go to LeMans, but to go and have a trophy presented to the team by Phil Hill was more that I could ever dream of.

BTW-The shop that maintains the RSR (Stratton Motorsports, Winter PArk Florida) recently restored a '72 Aubergine 911E into a RS clone, complete with a RS America motor. She really hauls!!
