This is one of the last remaining engines that were stolen from the Vasek and Maria Polak Charitable Trust Foundation in 2000. It's a 3.4L 911 engine, apparently based on a 993 / 964 platform. It has the very distinctive RSR-style twin-plug distributor, and the racing valve covers, and front timing chain covers. It probably would have been sold by a shop in Southern California to an unsuspecting customer. We estimate the value of this engine to be in the range of $15-$30K. Anyone with information on this engine should contact Paul Cohen at 310-589-9002. He is leading the investigation on this. Thanks, Wayne

Wayne,
Assume that you have been in touch with all the race shops on the left coast? Can you share part of the serial number so that everyone knows which one to look for in case the race bits have been removed and its sitting in someones shop or car? Joe A

I would suspect that price valuation is a little on the low side... If someone offered that to me for 15K, I'd jump on it!!!

Unfortunately it also looks like more than just a few other engines in existence.
Have a serial number?

I guess the state does not enter engine serial numbers during emission tests?

Will keep an eye out on this side.
Question: Don't all 964s and 993s have twin plug setups?

Its awful that someone would do that, but if an engine like that came along at a great price it would terrible temptation. I hope they find it, or at least the !@#$% who stole it.

UPDATE: Due to the fine detective work of Paul Cohen, we have recovered this engine, and all of the remaining engines that were stolen!

Can you write about the details or is that hush hush until everything has been completed?
Congratulations...
