Eric, what part of Germany were you in? I'm assuming at least some of that time was spent at the Nurburgring, but I'm really curious about the towns. The reason is that my grandparents (my Omi and Opa) lived in that area from the 60's until they both passed away in the early 80's. They lived in a tiny little village in the Eiffel mountains called Herschbach, which was about 10 miles or so from a larger town called Adenau. Was that larger town Adenau?
That area was like my second home for many years. I miss it immensely. I remember back in the 70's when the track was still used as a race venue being able to hear the cars roaring through the forest only a mile or so from my grandparents house. I think the track was just one valley over from theirs. I also remember my father taking me there in the seventies to watch some minor race. From a kid's standpoint, as a spectator, it was a boring track because you'd only see the cars about every ten minutes or so. Driving it, obviously, would be much more fun.

Great photos, Erik!
I cannot wait to get over there. For those that have not heard, I'm going to Spangdahlem for at least two years in July. And perhaps, I'll get a photo of me "smiling" in my office for once!
