There are lots & lots...
The best thing to do is one search on headers for that.

Then do a search on mufflers.

You can mark which ones have pics or download pics onto your computer for comparison.

Some examples of good mufflers are Dansk and mb991 (m&k?) for a reasonable cost. Or get a Monty and pay more, but get dyno data with it.

The important thing to avoid with aftermarket mufflers is the LOSS of hp. You will not improve on the factory muffler, and some amkes are much worse.

Likewise, you will not gain any hp over good heat exchangers like the SSIs - they already have built in 'headers' -- but IIRC, your SC has a fairly poor stock exhaust system. You may be able to get 5-10 hp extra out of it with SSIs or raw headers and a good muffler.

Avoid just hooking up any ol' muffler for US cars.

My set-up for the track is the "poor-man's" method:

I purchased early heat exchangers ('73 or older), removed all the hoses, had a muffler shop cut the "boxes" out, and there it was: "equal" length headers to put into a dual-in single-out muffler. I picked up the early heat exchangers at a swap meet for $100, cost $20 for the muffler shop work.

I also picked up the muffler at a swap meet for $100. As an alternative, I have a Bursch muffler from eBay for $125.

I think I can really feel (and hear) a difference. I'm in California, so I can't run the headers on the street.

You can change the exhaust yourself. I think in some models you need to change the oil lines, but in my case, everything just bolted on! Make sure you have a long 8mm hex key for heat exchanger nuts.

A great resource is Wayne's 101 Projects book or the tech info here at Pelican's site.

Hope that helps!

Brian
