'65 911 resto complete (mostly) but I'm back on the road!
After a full day in the sprinkler my little girl wanted to go on a drive in the "new" Porsche. We drove around the neighborhood and took a few pictures. It's been beautiful here in the PNW.
Well, the '65 is mostly done, drives like a million $. Thought I'd share a few photos.

Thanks guys. Yes it is Polo Red. I forgot to extend my thanks to all of you here on the board who have supplied me with the info necessary for the restoration. John, I used your electronics diagrams when assembling, couldn't have done without that.
Back to the BBQ. I'll include some history after dinner.

Thanks again. I bought the car last June from a previous boss. His Grandmother bought it new in Europe. They owned since new but kept it mostly in the back of the garage. His father was a collector but had only one other Porsche (it was a ’89 turbo). This ‘65 was very dirty and mostly neglected. The last time the motor turned over was 1994.
It took all year to disassemble it, clean everything, and put it back together. I had JW in Seattle go through the transmission and re-build the heads. Fortunately the interior is very nice and rust is not a structural issue. Originality was mostly all there. The paint was a lousy Maaco special. I took everything off the body, had it sanded and a new paint job applied in the original Polo Red 6602. Here’s a couple of “before” pictures: Another "after" shot: [img]

I sure wish I could get my engine to look that good. More Simple Green and elbow grease, I suppose.
Oh, and beautiful car!

I especially like the change to the thin headlight rims. Your car shows the classic 911 lines so well.
And, the refinishing of the fan and housing, good job. Bob |

I won't bring the '65 because I think I'm going to sell it. I'll make up my mind within the next week or so. I Plan on posting it here and a couple of other places. Why? It only has seat belts for the front seats and I couldn't bear the thought of drilling into the back seats (BOTH of my kids love going for rides, and when I can only bring one at a time...) Also, my wife wants another 912, as do I. And...I want to do to my '74 what I've done to this car. Those are the main reasons, but I change my mind often, especially when I'm driving We'll see...
