Euro 911SC
I just purchased a gray market 1979 SC coupe. I am the third owner and have all the paper work from the EPA. I would like to return the car to its factory European appearance. I am not sure what all would be involved. I know that I will need different rear lenses, to delete the side signal lenses in the front bumper, and to add blinkers to the front quarter panels. What else is needed? Is there any reason why I should not do this?
Also, I have the receipts for this car dating back 15 years. It sounds as if there have been a lot of electrical problems and I have noticed more than a couple of wires that are taped over. Is it possible to get a wiring harness and start over or should I work through system by system to ensure that everything is as it should be? Also, you should have the small bumper guards on the rear. There may be some other things, but I'm not sure.
I can't think of any reason that you should not do what you propose, other than it may be technically illegal. But, these are really cosmetic things, and I doubt you would run into any trouble. As far as the exterior goes, you should be able to find pictures of Euro spec cars in Porsche books all over the place. Doesn't your car already have the front fender little side marker lights? If not, I wonder what they did to get rid of the holes? Brian |

The side marker lights in the fender behind the front wheels started on the 1981 Eurospec models. Your 1979 model did not have them.
