Engine identification?
I have a motor out of a '74 and I believe it is an s motor, but I am not sure. I am about to put it into my '73 and I am doing a tune-up at the same time. However the tune-up kit is different if it is an s motor or not. How do I tell if it is an s?

for 74 S, engine serial number should begin "634".

I know this is a dumb question, but I am new to the engine. Where do I find the Engine serial number?

Look at the post to the right side bottom of the fan housing. And it is not a dumb question... we simply, if we are not German, are not born with this knowledge a priori in our brains.

Technically neither of us are German, we are Austrian. Near the German border, but not quite there.
