That is a 1969 911E engine. Does it still have the Bosch fuel injection on it, and how is it running?

Thanks for the quick reply Warren. Are you sure? This engine is in my '79SC and now I'm concerned!

Well, those decoding numbers were straight out of a '69, '70, '71 'Spec. Book' ... but if your engine looks like a regular CIS engine the 'codes' were probably 'reassigned' for the next decade turnover!!! Which tends to be a bit confusing ... sorting out which decade's spec. book to refer to!

Thanks again for checking Warren. Yes it looks correct as far as I can tell. I'll let you know what I find out. My spec book has been on back-order forever, one of these days I suppose.

Best way to ascertain what engine you've got is to check the Engine Type No (stamped into the crankcase near to the engine serial no.
- '69 911E has type no.901/09 (manual) or 901/11 (sportmatic); '79SC has type no.930/04 (49 state, manual) 930/06 (Calif, manual) or 930/14 (sportmatic). Both '69 911E & '79 SC had engine serial nos 6290001 onwards!! Good luck ! Andy Boyle (UK) '69 911E (ex-California) |
