Easy on the HE and mufflers. You could run into broken studs that can potentially take more time and $$ than you have allowed. Please search and use the proper tools, ie torch etc.

Wish I was closer. Valve adjustment was the most inspirational and fun DIY project I have done on my car. I have only put 1500 miles on the car since then, but I am thinking of doing it again next month for the fun of it.

nostatic................i really try hard not to set things on fire! if brut strength wont work, if a cheater bar attached to a floor jack wont work, if the torch wont work, if the 1/2 dr impact wont work..............................THERES ALWAYS THE DIE GRINDER FROM HELL! after that i quit! then we will go read the manual, buy the correct tool...........and start all over!

since fender guy isnt allowed to play w/cars due to CC&R's where he lives i offered him a concrete pad, air tools, hand tools, floor jacks, jack stands, roof from broiling sun, and spiritual advice so he can be "one " with his car. at the least i will learn something, at the worst i'll have oil stains on top of my old oil stains! plus hes into git-tars and im into drums. as soon as we get done w/his car we will be going on tour! LOL!

gonna call joeaksa up to get him involved in the "fun". maybe we will do a docu-drama film of our work for a "how NOT to do a major tuneup"!

Keep us posted when you decide to do this. I'll try to make it out with some snake shot to hold off the snakes while you're under the car :-)

More than a few Valley Porsche owners bring their air cooled rides up to Jay Moore (Air Cooleds Only) in Prescott. He knows his stuff and is one of the best Porsche old school wrenches around. He even has Porsche Factory experience! I've often said, "when Jay dies I'll have to sell my car"...
928 541-7543 And a day in Prescott is a real treat!
Good luck findng someone who wants to volunteer to work on someone else's ride.
