Man, what a beautiful car. I can dream, can't I?

Why dream ? I was under the impression American doctors made a **** load of money.
And yes, its a marvelous machine. One day...in say two decades..

Nice, but the wheels look like they came from Pep Boys.

I agree with Tyson...the new Audi RS4 has much better wheels, and can really scoot for a 4 dr sedan! Then again I can't afford either one of them.

I was behind one ot those in traffic yesterday. It certainly got me thinking I'd buy one if I could. Oh well...
Funny thing is, his licence plate was "997 AMG", it stuck out in my mind (obviously).

Different strokes I would way rather have the 996 GT3 or maybe the 997 GT3 (having not seen one in the flesh). The Turbo looks bloated and strange to me.

Most non-Porsche owners (like many on the Merc board) think the 997TT is the ultimate performance Porsche - hey, it's a turbo!
In reality, the GT3 or GT2 would be the true enthusiasts choice for performance - that is where my money would go. I really like the 997TT, I get get frustrated when it is compared to the Ford GT, Ferrari 430, and Lambo. The GT2 should be in that contest!

waterpumping rear engine bays are such a dissapointment to look at
seriously , they might as well fill that whole under the lid space with with an LCD screen for all i care... and then play some video of an air cooled beasty... sure, yeah, i know, it's a 997 TT it's probably goes like bat out of hell

I think the 997TT is awesome.
I'd love to take it for a test drive, but the insurance (aside from the payments) might be a bit extreme in CA to purchase one.

I drove it 2 months ago in Germany. Torque delivery is amazing.
Grip phenomenal. I've driven many 996 TTs from stock and X50s to 750 bhp beasts. The new car is on a different league One has to experience to appreciate. |

Can I ask a, maybe silly, question?
I know why my car keep it's price. I know the diff between water cool and air cool (some what), etc. But may I ask why is it that so many people so disappoint about water cool? Let's not talk about raw/modern/computerized, reliability/performance/cost of maintenant, etc. Thanks.

Some people are dissapointed by the easier driving characteristics of the water cooled cars.
I don't agree to that. Whoever has driven a 996 C2 (especially the later 3,6 version) fast - and I mean fast - he could see that its a hook. I guess that seeing 996s everywhere doesn't help either. |
